How to Study Efficiently
All of us want to
be successful and pass our exams with good grades. Nevertheless, we need to
take the necessary actions in order to succeed. Even though you read and revise your textbook, do your homework and prepare for your exams diligently, you still
can’t get the grades that you want. This might indicate that you are doing
something wrong somewhere or the study techniques you use are inadequate.
Everybody may have a different learning style but there are some common tips.
Let’s look at them together.
1)
After school, please REST! How long? Around an hour will do
the trick. You can eat/drink or spend some time in front of the TV or computer
(social websites like Facebook can be too attractive but you need to resist the
temptation and at the end of the 1 hour period, shut the computer!). Don't pile up on carbohydrate before studying
because this might impact your performance negatively.
2)
Where should you study? You need to
study on a proper study table NOT on
a sofa, bed or floor. The wrong location will decrease your performance and also make
you sleepy easily especially after long day at school. Make sure your study
table has enough space for all your books. Remove all unnecessary
materials that clutter up your desk as they will easily distract you and ruin your concentration.
3)
You need to use your time properly.
You can have 5-10 minutes breaks every 45 minutes. (Again, make sure your
breaks are not longer than 10 minutes)
4)
You can use a small notebook to note
your homework and exam dates and; details. Then you do not need to worry about
them.
5)
Force yourself to start studying the
subjects which you have less confidence in.
6)
You should divide your studies every
day. Do your homework every day. Please don’t try to finish it on at the very
last day! Procrastination is not an
option!
7)
Repeat what you have learnt at
school every day.
8)
Look at the next day's subjects before
SLEEPING.
